Participial Phrases A verbal phrase That means it’s a word that is normally a verb, but here is acting differently Participials are verbs acting as adjectives Ex: Running on the ice, I slipped and fell.

Types of Part. Phrases Past Participial Ends in –d or –ed Also can be formed irregularly Ex: The photo, taken by my father, is beautiful Ex: The designs, improved by the architect, made the building more expensive.

Types Con’t Present Participial End in –ing Ex: Launching the first moving assembly line, Ford revolutionized the auto industry.

HOT TIP Participial can be taken out of the sentence, and the basic meaning of the sentence will remain. Think of it this way: you can PART out a car, so you can PART out a PARTICIPIAL
