6 YOUTH DAY ON 17 DECEMBER 1999, IN ITS RESOLUTION, THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY ENDORSED THE RECOMMENDATION MADE BY THE WORLD CONFERENCE OF MINISTERS RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUTH THAT 12 AUGUST BE DECLARED INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY..

7 YOUTH DAY IN INDIA, 12 TH JANUARY WHICH IS THE BIRTHDAY OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE NATIONAL YOUTH DAY. IN 1984, THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA TOOK UP A DECISION TO OBSERVE THE BIRTHDAY OF SWAMIJI (12 TH JANUARY) AS THE NATIONAL YOUTH DAY. IT WAS OBSERVED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 1985.

8 THE POWER OF THE YOUTH IS VERY GREAT, IT HAS THE POTENTIAL OF ACHIEVING TARGETS. WHO ARE YOUTH

9 "YOUTH IS LIKE A FIRE IT CREPT FORWARD. A SPARK AT FIRST GROWING INTO A FLAME. THE BRIGHTENING INTO A BLAZE."

10 YOUTH ACCORDING TO THE INDIAN NATIONAL YOUTH POLICY, AL THE YOUTH IN THE COUNTRY IN THE AGE GROUP 13-35 ARE CALLED YOUTH. SINCE ALL THE PERSON WITHIN THIS AGE GROUP ARE UNLIKELY TO BE ONE HOMOGENEOUS GROUP BUT RATHER A CONGLOMERATION OF SUB GROUPS WITH DIFFERENT, SOCIAL ROLES AND REQUIREMENTS. AGE GROUP IS THEREFORE DIVIDED INTO TWO SUB GROUPS, 13 – 19 YRS AND SECOND IS 20 – 35 YRS. THE YOUTH BELONGING TO THE AGE GROUP 13-19 WHICH ARE A MAJOR PART OF ADOLESCENT AGE GROUP ARE REGARDED AS A SEPARATE CONSTITUENCY.

11 CONTRIBUTION OF YOUTH IN VARIOUS FIELDS

12 Captain Vikram Batra PVC (September 9, 1974 – July 7, 1999) was an officer of the Indian Army posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest award for valour, for his actions during the Kargil War in Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

13 Vijay Kumar won the Silver Medal in the 25 metre fire pistol event at 2012 olympics. He finished with an average score of 9.767. Kumar has a score of 293 with 7 inner 10s in the first stage. Vijay's silver was the second medal for India at London Olympics.

14 Rahul Gandhi is an Indian politician and member of the Parliament of India, representing the Amethi constituency. Gandhi is the general-secretary of the Indian National Congress.

15 Suhas Gopinath was born in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. He launched a web site at the age of 14, and incorporated his company the same year, becoming the world's youngest CEO. Gopinath taught himself how to build websites and sold portals to bricks-and-mortar firms in the US. Gopinath was announced as "Young Global Leader" for 2008-2009 by the World Economic Forum, Davos.

16 CULTURAL Anurag kashyap is without doubt one of the most prominent auteurs in the country. his movies have received international acclaim, and have won several awards in various national and international film festivals.

17 Mallika Sarabhai, a multifaceted personality, is a noted Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam dancer. She has immensely contributed to the fields of acting, writing and publishing. She is a social activist and has participated in many socio- developmental projects initiated by the United Nations. Mallika Sarabhai has also received the "French Palme D”, the highest civilian award of France.

18 EDUCATION Chetan Bhagat is a motivational speaker and a renowned youth writer with 5 best seller works to his name.

19 NATIONAL YOUTH POLICY 1.The National Youth Policy, 2003. 2.The earlier National Youth Policy was formulated in 1988. 3. National Youth Policy - 2003 is designed to galvanize the youth to rise up to the new challenges 4.The thrust of the Policy centres around “Youth Empowerment” in different spheres of national life.

20 OBJECTIVES 1.To promote awareness. 2.To provide educational and training opportunities. 3.To develop Qualities of Citizenship and dedication to Community Service 4.To facilitate access to health information 5.to sustain and reinforce the spirit of volunteerism involvement in promoting peace

24 WHAT IS YOUTH UNREST 1.Unrest means a disturbed condition. 2.Youth unrest may be defined as the manifestation of collective frustration by the youth in the society

25 CONCLUSION 1.Dysfunctional conditions. 2.Collective discontent. 3.Public concern. 4.The need for change in the existing norms. 5.Feeling of injustice. 6.Collective reaction to stimuli. CHARACTERISTICS

26 MEASURES 1.Establishing a responsive, trusting, attentive relationship with the youth. 2.Building an emotional rapport with the youth. 3.Suggesting actions to the youth to achieve their goals.
