ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION -CLASS XI E
2
WHAT AND WHY ?? Environmental protection is a practice of protecting the natural environment on individual, organizational or governmental levels, for the benefit of both the natural environment and humans. Due to the pressures of population and technology, our environment is being degraded and hence it needs protection..

NEED Since the past two decades, global warming has been on an increase leading to rise in world temperature. This is due to pollution caused by us, i.e. we human beings only. The fast growing pace of infrastructure in the world is increasing pollution and degrading the environment Due to increase in the world temperature since the past decade, there is a call for environment protection all over the world.

TRENDS IN GLOBAL WARMING
6
CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING 1.Carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel burning power plants. 2.Carbon dioxide emissions from burning gasoline for transportation. 3.Methane emissions from animals, agriculture such as rice paddies, and from Arctic seabeds. 4.Deforestation, especially tropical forests; for wood, pulp, and farmland. 5.Increase in usage of chemical fertilizers on croplands.
7
EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING 1.Rise in sea levels worldwide 2.More killer storms 3.Massive crop failures 4.Widespread extinction of species 5.Disappearance of coral reefs

INITIATIVES FOR ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION Environmental protection is a global issue. Humans, plants, and animals are part of delicate, interconnected ecosystems. If we damage one part of an ecosystem, we endanger other parts. Ongoing damage—to everything from the Earth’s atmosphere to the depths of the oceans—could impact our future in unpredictable ways. Today we face the challenge of halting environmental destruction and restoring ecosystems to a healthy balance. Many initiatives have been taken upon the concerned issue by many people, organizations and countries at individual, organizational and global levels respectively.
9
ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION : INDIA Along with other countries, India has also done its bit towards contributing to environmental protection. India had passed an act, in 1986 known as: “The Environment Protection Act, 1986”
10
THE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION ACT, 1986 Environment Protection Act, 1986 is an Act of the Parliament of India. In the wake of the Bhopal Tragedy, the Government of India enacted the Environment Protection Act of 1986 under Article 253 of the Constitution. Passed in March 1986, it came into force on 19th November 1986. The purpose of the Act is to implement the decisions of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environments they relate to the protection and improvement of the human environment and the prevention of hazards to human beings, other living creatures, plants and property.

SCHOOL LEVEL INITIATIVES Our class also feels that the environment needs to be protected and hence we, the students of XI E have contributed our bit towards the issue. We had done a rally in our school premises to support the same. Also, our class, has planted saplings in the school in a garden area allotted to us by the principal ma’am to contribute to the environment. We also have been taking care of our class by regularly cleaning and arranging it and disposing off wastes in the bin.
12
Some of the students have conducted a survey on “The Impact of Pollution”. A Skype mystery call was also conducted by a group in our class. We the students consider it our duty to keep our school clean, and for that two students of our class clean up the canteen area, each day, along with other 11 class students.
