What Is A Tsunami? ● A large ocean wave caused by movement on the ocean floor such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and landslides. ● They usually collect themselves beyond the shoreline and start to gain speed and build into deadly waves as they rapidly approach the shore.

2004 Tsunami ● It occurred on Sunday December 26 th 2004 in Southern Asia 100 miles from it's main target, Sumatra, Indonesia. ● It was as fast as a jet airliner with a magnitude of 9.0, and is known to be the second largest earthquake ever recorded affecting around 13 countries. ● It began at around 7 AM that morning and only took 15 minutes to reach Indonesia, and around 90 to 120 minutes to reach Sri Lanka, Thailand and other countries in Southern Asia and lasted for only about 10 minutes.
