1 IOMFA Centre of Excellence 2016/17 SLIDE 1 Mission Statement: “To recruit and enhance the most talented junior football players on the island and provide a challenging technical and competitive programme to help them achieve their full potential”. Please continue for all necessary information for season 2016-17.

2 U18’s Programme Dates Training Phase 1: Mon 4 th July – Fri 12th Dec 2016 Xmas Break – Mon 19 th Dec 2016 – Mon 2 nd Jan 2017 Training Phase 2: Mon 2 nd Jan 2016 - Mon 24 th Apr 2016 Players are Expected to attend every session. 3 Player Enrolment Form If you haven't completed and handed in the players trial form it is important that you complete an enrolment form. The season 2016-17 Centre of Excellence U18 Player Enrolment Forms can be found on the IOMFA Website (www.isleofmanfa.com ). CLICK on the “Centre of Excellence” Tab on the website home page.www.isleofmanfa.com Please print and bring it with you to our first training session Monday 4 th July at Groves Road grass pitches. It is VERY important that this form is received. Updates on the programme will be communicated via email so please forward an email address which you check regularly. Players will be unable to start the training programme until the necessary paperwork has been received.

4 Boy U18 Session Times Arrive on time (15 mins prior) to the start training times stated below. Football training will run at Groves Road Pitch Monday nights 6:30pm- 8:00pm until the 15 th August From the 15 th August until the end of April – football sessions will run 7:00pm-8:30pm at the Bowl Please bring boots, shin pads and a water bottle. Pre-season Fitness Training (10 week block Thursday 7 th July- Thursday 8 th September) will run at Ramsey Fitness Gym Thursday nights 8:00pm- 9:00pm. Please bring suitable running trainers and water bottle

5 Goalkeepers Organization Lead coaches will organise sessions to incorporate Goalkeepers. Goalkeepers will be expected to train regularly with the outfield players within their respective age group squads (session times listed on the previous slide). There will also be: Wednesday – 5:30pm – 7:00pm – GK Specific Training – ALL GK SQUADS starting from Wednesday October 5 th.

6 Training Kit – Wear at Every Session SLIDE 3 Players will wear full training kit to every session. This : Kit Checklist – Nike Black Shorts Nike Black Socks Nike Jacket Nike Training Shirt Shin pads Footwear – moulded/ studded boots/ blades/ Astroturf boots – all suitable Water Bottle Nike Kit Package Deal: The IOMFA offers a Kit Sponsorship Deal at £60 per training pack. This includes an embroided shower jacket, training shirt, training shorts and socks. Kit Shop Nights: Friday 28th October 5:30pm – 6:00pm - Boys Groups At the above listed dates and times a “Kit Shop Night” will be held at the Bowl changing rooms where you will be able to collect IOMFA Training kit. What to Wear for Now? : Existing Players – (those in the programme last season) – Please wear the same training kit as last season to start with. New Players – Please wear your own suitable football training kit to start with.

7 Payment SLIDE 4 Payment will be via cheque or cash upfront or standing order for season 2016-17. Boy Under18’s £160 = £16 per month Please note if you don’t have a bank account, you will have to pay the full lump sum for the entire season upfront in cash before 4pm, Friday 8 th July.

8 Payment – Standing Order Forms The order forms can be found on the IOMFA Website (www.isleofmanfa.com ) CLICK (don’t just hover over) the U18’s section of the “Centre of Excellence” Tab on the website home page.www.isleofmanfa.com Players will be unable to start the training programme until the necessary paperwork has been received. 10 Training Code of Conduct TRAINING (BEFORE) -Hydrate – fill water bottle up -Rest before training -Warm up properly on arrival -Players Not Allowed on the sides of the pitch prior to session start time -Players must wear full training kit to every session - No Long tracksuit pants / inappropriate Woolly hats TRAINING (DURING) -Respect coach selection/ decisions -No Swearing -Keep to coach instructions -Positive attitude -Encourage Team mates -Give 100% effort -Look Smart – tuck shirts in -Don’t discriminate against other players -Look after your possessions -No Racism -Good Sportsmanship TRAINING (AFTER) -Clean up Litter -Take all your possessions -Re-Hydrate -Cool down -Report any injuries to coach This code of conduct will need to be strictly adhered to and will be monitored by lead coaches across each squad. Parents will be notified of any player who has broken the Code of Conduct. 3 Strike Rule – We adopt a 3 strike policy to training code of conduct and attendance. This will be communicated further at the parents/players evening upcoming.

11 Coaches & Communication Lead Coaches will introduce themselves to all parents/guardians via email after Week 1 using the information you supply on the enrolment form. Cancelled sessions – We do not expect many with the programme being on a 3G surface. Expect sessions to take place in all weather conditions. However IF a session is cancelled lead coaches will communicate this via email and only at very short notice via text message. Unless you are contacted please expect the session to still take place. Reminder – If you can’t make a session – please communicate this with your lead coach – Not the FA Office.

12 Coaching/ Technical Program Age 18’s Sessions will support 11 v 11 football. Players will be learning the principles of play within the game. Sessions include an increase in decision making and problem solving. Well rounded varied coaching practice will include technique work along 11v11 and Small sided games which are game related and opposed.

13 Developing The Player Physical -Good ABC’s – Fundamental Movement Patterns for football (Agility, Balance, Coordination, Acceleration, Deceleration) -Fast – Over short and Longer Distances (can cover the ground. Social -Have a strong mentality -A ‘team player’ Technical -Competent in 1 v 1 situations -Good First touch, under pressure and with both feet -Comfortable at keeping possession under pressure -Good At – passing, dribbling, running with ball, finishing Psychological -Express themselves and show creativity when attacking -Tactically astute -Offer support and movement on and off the ball -Show understanding and decisiveness when defending SOME Key development areas for individual players
