Introduction ● A new Invenio module ● Management of circulation of items Loans, requests and Inter-library loans (ILL) ● Code inherited from Joaquim Silvestre 50% of its 31.000 lines currently owned by me ● In production since August 2010

Digital document repository Integrated library system Introduction ● Replacing Aleph – No built-in borrower interface – Not customizable – Statistics – Single sign-on (SSO) – Not linked to search

Development process ● Just fixing → Enhancements ● Feedback iterations – Meeting with the Library (Anne and Tullio) – Development of new prototype – Testing in CDSDEV ● 12 iterations and about one hundred of suggestions and issues reported

Migration ● End of August 2010 ● Fixed eval() issue ● Script to extract data from Aleph – Items – Loans and requests (no history) – Borrowers

Borrower interface ● Requests – The book will be sent via internal mail as soon as it will be available. ● Renewals – Online renewal of loans if the book has not been requested. ● ILL – The borrower can request ILLs to the library.

Librarian interface ● Items: add, modify and delete copies ● Borrowers ● Requests: register new request, cancel, create a loan from a request ● Loans: register new loan, return, renew... ● ILL: register, keep track of them ● Libraries: sites, external libraries

Automated tasks ● Invenio BibSched tasks ● Emails for overdue loans – 3 different templates for emails – Recalls are sent the day that the loan expires, 3 days after, one week after and every day from that moment on ● Borrowers information update

Next steps ● Acquisitions module ● Less CERN-dependent – Penalty system for overdue loans ● Re-designing data base

Some figures ● 336,710 items in 235,596 records ● 2,178 borrowers (~17% of CERN users) ● 1,890 requests ● 7,387 loans – 250 per week ● 17 internal library sites ● 20 external libraries (ILL)
