3 Agenda HCF who we are Hertfordshire Matters – what is it? Why are we doing it? Why do we need your help? Current funding opportunities with HCF

4 HCF - who are we and what we do? The Foundation has two main aims: 1.To encourage philanthropy within the county and to provide a service to our donors to help them fulfil their charitable giving aims. 2.Distribute a diverse range of funding streams through grants to charities, voluntary organisations and community groups who are working to address need and deprivation in the county.

5 A few stats: Established in 1988 HCF’s endowment currently stands at almost £9.5 million We manage over 90 different funds In 2014/2015 we provided £538,690 worth of support to the county

11 www.hertsdirect.org Mapping Tools page contains many dynamic maps with many demographic and health indicators at Lower Super Output Area (690 small areas) and Middle Super Output Area (153 small areas). All Maps use a google maps background which allows you to drop a pin at any location that you search for. Currently no ward level data available on the maps, although Public Health England have created an online tool to generate ward level health profiles at www.localhealth.org.uk Please feedback if there is anything you would like to see, or cannot find Public Health Evidence & Intelligence Team PH.intelligence@Hertfordshire.gov.uk Use search box in order to navigate the website

15 Funding Programmes 2015/2016 Main Foundation Grants: Small Grants Programme – up to £1000 Rolling deadline For grassroots organisations where £1000 will make a big difference. Large Grants Programme - up to £5000 - this round is Building Stronger Communities – deadline 24 th December

16 Funding Programmes 2015/2016 Specific Funds: East Herts Community Chest Exclusively for the benefit of residents of East Herts. Groups can apply for up to £500 for activities benefiting their local communities. Individuals can apply for up to £100 towards personal endeavours e.g. sporting or personal development activities. Open now Comic Relief Local Communities 2015-2016 Deadline 24 th December - up to £10,000 High Sheriff Awards Awards or around £1000 with a focus on those working on crime prevention and rehabilitation deadline for nominations 11 th December Surviving Winter Small grants for organisations working with vulnerable older people and families who are struggling to survive in the winter months. Individual grants to help with food or fuel poverty are also available (November 2015 - March 2016) More information on our website… www.hertscf.org.uk
