9 Let’s Get Started Materials Needed: –Spiral notebook –Colored pencils (no markers – they bleed) –Pens: Blue, Black, Red, Green, Purple, other –Ruler –Pencil –Eraser –Glue –Scissors

10 Title Page On the first page include: –Course Title –Period –School Year –Your Name –Teacher Name –Class Room # –Decoration

11 Table of Contents On the second page include: –Title: “Table of Contents” across top –Skip two lines –Label: “Date ------ Title ------ Pages” –Underline Label –Draw two vertical lines to make three columns

12 Number the Pages Starting on the third page, begin numbering the pages, starting with 1 Right side has odd numbers Left side has even numbers Number ALL remaining pages in the notebook

13 Cover Use ½ sheet of plain white paper Include the following: –Course Name –“Interactive Science Notebook” –Your Name –Teacher Name –Room # –School Year

14 Cover Add subject related decorations Attach to the front of notebook using clear contact paper or packing tape

15 Guidelines Glue ISN Guidelines handout inside the front cover of the notebook

16 Work-in-Progress Pocket Use 9” x 6” piece of tagboard or file folder Attach tagboard pocket to inside back cover of notebook –With packing tape on outside edges, OR –With contact paper wrapped around from back cover of notebook Label the pocket “In Progress”

17 “Getting Started” Title Page On top half of page number 1 –Label “Getting Started in Class Name” –Put today’s date below page number –Add subject appropriate decorations

18 “Getting Started” Title Page On bottom half of page number 1 –Label: “Date ----- Title ----- Pages” –Underline the Label –Draw two vertical lines to make three columns

19 Standards Checklist On page number 3 –Glue in “Standards Checklist” Handout –Glue along left side –Fold in accordion style to fit –Put today’s date below page number

20 Syllabus On page number 5 –Glue in “Syllabus” Handout –Put today’s date below page number –Have parent sign “Syllabus” in ISN tonight –Keep full size copy of “Syllabus” at home
