2 Goal 2: Engage learners through the use of technological tools to access, create and share content as well as collaborate with other learners throughout the world. Specific Results: 2. Seamlessly integrate digital citizenship across the curriculum so that all stakeholders collaborate in an atmosphere of respect, integrity, sharing, trust, and service.

3 Timeline: 2015-2016 The schoolboard asked for documentation showing that all 4 th grade students have completed digital citizenship curriculum. 2016-2017 The leadership team determined that the next 2 grades levels to implement digital citizenship curriculum would be 5 th grade and 7 th grade.

4 What is new? 5 th Grade has been added in elementary 7 th Grade has been added to Middle School Updated 4 th grade lessons based on campus feedback Digital Literacy resources have been added Updated AUP ePortfolio submission is an option this year only Principal form for documentation –Documentation due by Dec. 16 th

5 LISD Technology Plan Summary (July 2016 The overarching goal of the Technology Plan is to ensure that students become future ready through authentic and engaging learning experiences based on the content area TEKS and the Technology Application TEKS. The Technology Application TEKS for Grades K-5 require that: –Students communicate and collaborate both locally and globally to reinforce and promote learning. –Students obtain research and information fluency through the acquisition and evaluation of digital content. –Students develop critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills by collecting, analyzing, and reporting digital information. –Students practice digital citizenship by behaving responsibly while using technology tools and resources. Through the study of technology operations and concepts, students learn technology related terms, concepts, and data input strategies.

6 Technology Application TEKS (1) Digital citizenship. The student practices safe, responsible, legal, and ethical behavior while using digital tools and resources. The student is expected to: (A) adhere to acceptable use policies reflecting positive social behavior in the digital environment; (B) respect the intellectual property of others; (C) abide by copyright law and the Fair Use Guidelines for Educational Multimedia; (D) protect and honor the individual privacy of oneself and others; (E) follow the rules of digital etiquette; (F) practice safe, legal, and responsible use of information and technology; and (G) comply with fair use guidelines and digital safety rules. 3) Research and information fluency. The student acquires and evaluates digital content. The student is expected to: (A) use various search strategies such as keyword(s); the Boolean identifiers and, or, and not; and other strategies appropriate to specific search engines; (B) collect and organize information from a variety of formats, including text, audio, video, and graphics; (C) validate and evaluate the relevance and appropriateness of information; and (D) acquire information appropriate to specific tasks.

8 Overview of Navigation for 4 th Grade Digital Literacy Resources 4 th Grade Changes: This year all supporting printable materials (English and Spanish) are located in the Google Site. Modify the materials based on your students’ needs. Digital Literacy Resources have been added.

9 Overview of Navigation Digital Literacy Resources An elementary district librarian made the Digital Driver’s License course for her campus. We included it as a disciplinary option last year. If you want a copy for your campus email rentfrom@lisd.net. Forms in the DDL class will need to be recreated to gather student data. Feel free to customize the course to fit your campus needs.

11 Documentation Grade 4 1.The teacher will print the report from Digital Compass and retain a copy. 1.Alternative assignments may be used if the student needs modifications. Record grades in a class spreadsheet manually for these students. Students with special needs will follow their IEP. 2.The campus may set the passing grade minimum for the materials. 3.Students may have a learning artifact added to their ePortfolo for Digital Citizenship (optional this year). 12 Documentation Grade 5 The teacher will create documentation that students have passed all units for 5 th grade. Students may have a learning artifact in their ePortfolo in 2016-2017. It is optional this year. ePortfolio ResourcesePortfolio Resources Individual student grades will not be collected for 5th grade, but they should be retained by the campus. A Google form is due from the principal by Dec. 16th. –The form will be emailed to you documenting all 5 th graders have completed the digital citizenship curriculum.
