Dr. Seuss Menu Choose 2 of activities to complete after reading your Dr. Seuss books. Make a list of the things in your book that are not real. Create a picture dictionary of 6 words in your book that were made up. Compare and contrast 2 Dr. Seuss books. Use Popplet to complete a story map to share what happened in your book. Choose your favorite Dr. Seuss character and make a puppet. Use ChatterPix Kids to describe your character. Build an invention like one from a Dr. Seuss book. Take a picture and label it. Find out about Dr. Seuss. Create a poster or PicCollage about this author. Write your own Dr. Seuss-style story and illustrate it. Use Telestory and pretend you are a reporter and report on an event from one of the books.

Create a Story Map.. Identify the characters and setting of your book and then retell the important events. Use Popplet to make a story map. Exampl e

Make a Puppet.. Make a puppet of a character from a Dr. Seuss book. You can make a paper bag puppet, a stick puppet, a sock puppet, or any other type of puppet you can create. You must make the puppet. Take a picture of your puppet and use Chatterpix kids to tell about your book or character.

Be An Inventor.. Create an invention or machine like one from the Dr. Seuss books. Use the materials at the building station or bring recycled materials from home. (Cardboard tubes, string, etc.) Take a picture of your creation and label it using Skitch. Make sure to name your invention and tell what it does!

Dr. Seuss Poster or PicCollage.. Use PebbleGo or other resources to answer questions like: Who was Dr. Seuss? Where was he born? How did he become an author? How many books did he write? What else did you learn about this author?

Write a Dr. Seuss-Style Story.. Write and illustrate a story like Dr. Seuss wrote. Use rhyming words or invent characters. Make sure your story has a beginning, middle and end.

Create a News Report.. Pretend you are on the television news reporting on an event from a Dr. Seuss book. For example, you might say: “Today we are coming to you live from outside a home where 2 children say a cat came to their home while their mother was out. He was a large cat wearing a red and white striped hat. He had 2 friends with him known as Thing 1 and Thing 2. The Cat and the Things created quite a mess, but the children report that they cleaned up before leaving.” Use Telestory to create your news report.

Helpful Hints Put your name on all work. Email your iPad creations to the teacher. Use the word wall, your spelling dictionary and your Dr. Seuss books to spell the best you can. Work neatly and do your best work. Ask for help if you need it. Have fun!
