INTRODUCTION One of our Erasmus + project tasks was to meet folk arstist We decided to visit Marija Šavora Few years ago, she helped our school to make live Nativity scene on the subject “If Jesus was born in Me đ imurje”

ABOUT MISS ŠAVORA Marija Šavora is famous as the biggest collector of folk dresses in our region She has her own exhibition, as well as appearances at various events

VISIT 26.1.2016. we visited miss Šavora in her lovely home She welcomed us with a big smile She showed us a room where she collects folk dresses for 15 years Her collection is truly impressive and it includes shoes, clothes and many other accessories

Tradition of our ancestors Miss Šavora introduced us to some interesting mores Here are some examples: Did you know that braids mark that the girl is single and a bun that she is married The night before the wedding, women and girls were gathered at the bride's home to make the wedding apple As the family was richer, the apple was more bountiful

The morning after the wedding girl comes to church with embroided shirt A big role at the wedding had the rooster carrier Our grandmothers wore details made of horsehair After marrying the girl with dowry moves to her husband's house The head of the house were the husbands parents Soap was is home produced from the ashes

THE BEST PART The best part was when we dressed folk dresses Even 3 hours were not enough that look all around and try it, so we will definitely go back again Miss Marija Šavora as ethnographer plays a big role in this project, and she will help us a lot in the future
