2 Examples of Parallel Structure  Mrs. Silva prefers to exercise and to paint.  Mr. Ames will write the report, proofread it, and mail it before tomorrow.  Thinking logically is as important as calculating accurately.

3 Put these sentences into parallel structure on a sheet of notebook paper 1. Learning proper grammar and to write effectively are my goals. 2. The suspect has sold his house, he packed his belongings, and left town. 3. I plan to travel this summer either in Europe or in Central America. 4. Einstein liked doing mathematical research more than to supervise a large laboratory.

4 Correct these sentences by writing them correctly on your paper. 5. Phuong Tran has wit, charm, and she has an extremely pleasant personality. 6. In English class, Tashonda learned to read poems critically and she appreciated good prose. 7. He wanted three things out of college: to learn a skill, to make good friends, and learning about life. 8. Coach Espinoza was a brilliant strategist, a caring mentor, and friend. 9. We found the film repulsive, offensive, and we thought it was embarrassing.

5 Next  Complete Exercise 3 in the Language book on page 425 by rewriting the sentences and underling the part of the sentence you changed  #2 is correct
