What are we Hacking ? Government Datasets: Infastructure Australia HSR Report Phase 1 NSW CountryLink Schedules Are we writing application software: Yes, Python, Wiring/Arduino Are we using computers: Yes, Linux, ARM-9, AVR, Arduino What Batteries ? Same as your Notebook, only more.
3
Solar Powered Train – why ? It's Cleaner and more environmentally friendly than HSR powered from fossil fuel power stations. In fact, zero-emissions. The average person in Australia believes that there's no reason why Solar Powered Trains can't be done. Governments need to see that it is possible. It will be Cheaper to implement than European HSR per km because no expensive overhead wiring system is required.
4
How does it benefit Canberra ? Quicker access to Sydney than current Trains, buses or cars. Approximately equal to Air Travel time in point- to-point terms. A better potential service than anything being proposed by the NSW Department of Transport.

Design Overview Aluminium Chassis with impact protection. Seats for 30 passengers in the proof of concept 2000 x Lithium-Ion 18650 2.6Ah batteries. Solar Tail - 5kW Solar Tail – Solar Panels For battery charging Li-Ion Batteries Under Tail Lightweight Aluminium Chassis

Schedule Hacking Current Service Canberra to Sydney usually takes around 4 hours. Solar Train increases speed along straights and wouldn't require major track refactoring. Service would attract younger people, Government and Business. Including many overseas visitors.
7
Cost Hacking Cheaper than Euro- HSR which runs at $30M per km Speed is down on 400kmh Euro HSR at 150kmh – 230kmh Aluminium Trains are less expensive to build than steel. Special Safety Systems included.
8
Measuring Canberra Solar Levels We checked light levels on an overcast day. They were 8+V. Enough to charge batteries + run a train. Might take a few days – but thats ok.
9
Service Proposal Economy Class Tickets: $100. Includes 1 x 'Standard' Seat. First Class Tickets: $200. Small room, bed + desk + lounge. Travel Time: 1:5hr = 180kmh Average speed.
10
Project Plan Complete the Proof- of-Concept Show to Rural Communities Undergo testing in NSW on disused Track. Bring back to Canberra in Summer for Demonstration.
11
Summary Everything is can be completed for a run this summer We just need to continue hacking. ZERO EMISSION TRANSPORT FOR CANBERRA
