HVAC (heating, ventilation & air conditioning) interacts to maintain the environment of a building. This graphic shows this inter-relativity between these systems and the various components of a building (Spatial Objects) that interact to create the environment of which the occupants perceive and sense. Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use

2 This Power Point slide set shows the various views that can be utilized to display and analyze the building energy use at the Stanford Y2E2 engineering building via the on-line accessible “ Dashboard ” real time monitoring system for the 2500 sensors. As you page through the “real” DASHBOARD site, you will be accessing the environment activities at the building in real time. You can analyze and compare the data from the past week, past month, past minute/hour. You can compare the current energy usage with how much equivalent energy it would utilize to create hamburgers, gasoline, carbon foot print, etc. This gives us a practical application of how much we effect our environment in a real world and relative set of viewpoints.

5 These are the various informational and utilities windows available with the Dashboard. Some have depth in choosing display controls to allow for viewing the sensor information in different: time scales, comparisons, and relative energies to create familiar comparative scenarios. Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use

In the viewpoint for each utility screen, you may display data as a total, per person, or as per 1000sq ft.

7 Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use In the electricity utility, under viewpoint, the total screen has the capability to do some comparisons with various electricity using areas and then compare their percentages of the total electricity being used.

Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use You may select to display data in these time scales

Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use In the select a unit equivalent for ‘ electricity, solar and comparison ’ windows, you may choose to compare the amount of energy required for the shown types of items.

Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use In the solar utility, under viewpoint, the total screen has the capability to do some comparisons with various electricity producing materials and then compare their percentages of the total electricity being created.

In the select a unit equivalent for ‘ chilled water and steam ’ windows, you may choose to compare the amount of energy required for the showed types of items. Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use

In the select a unit equivalent for ‘ water ’ window, you may chose to compare the amount of energy required for the shown types of items. Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use

In the chilled water, under viewpoint, the total screen has the capability to do a comparison of per person with the percentage of the total chilled water being maintained.

Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use In the chilled water, under viewpoint, the total screen has the capability to do a comparison of per 1000sq ft with the percentage of the total chilled water being maintained.

Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use In the Comparison utility, you can compare current energy use in the Y2E2 engineering building with that of the California code.

Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use In the Comparison utility, you can compare current energy use in the Y2E2 engineering building with that of other Stanford buildings.

Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use PAGE 1: In the Green Features utility, you can activate the buttons and be guided through information relative to each topic concerning the listed current energy use and control systems in the Y2E2 engineering building.

PAGE 2: In the Green Features utility, you can activate the buttons and be guided through information relative to each topic concerning the listed current energy use and control systems in the Y2E2 engineering building. Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use

In the Action utility, you can activate the buttons and be guided through information relative to each topic concerning how students can become active in the Stanford Community ’ s Green Technology Movement.

Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use In the Performance Chart utility, with the Select a Unit Equivalent, you can visualize the daily electricity consumed and put it into a comparison mode with the energy relative to each of the conceptual items listed.

Predicting and Measuring Building Energy Use In the Weather utility, you can visualize the real time environment around the outside of the Stanford Y2E2 Environmental Engineering Building. Different weather conditions should change the interior characteristics of the building and change the data output from the sensors.
