Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at risk of falling behind. Title I status is given to schools based on the percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch. Schools with a free/reduced lunch percentage of 40% or more are eligible.

Students are selected for June extension teaching from a set of academic criteria including: Reading and Math Scores Reading Test (Lexile) District Reading and Math Assessments

Barry Goldwater has implemented a collaborative structure (PLC) for teachers to improve their practice to support student achievement academically, socially and emotionally. An ELA paraprofessional provides individualized instruction on an as-needed basis.

Goal: Improve student achievement through enhanced communication systems. Design and implement communication systems with a focus on improving student achievement. Maintain and update student schedules and information in ManageBac and PowerSchools. Promote use of ManageBac to support parents and students with students’ success.

Parents/Guardians have a “Right to Know” if their child is taught by a teacher that is NOT highly qualified for four weeks or longer. Currently, ALL teachers on BGHS’s campus are highly qualified. All students will receive their reading, writing and math AZ Merit scores. Upon the request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to make suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children.
