Store Visibility Can I see the store from the road? Is there a scaffolding blocking my store signage? Is there accessible parking? Is the entrance off the highway awkward? Is the mall location easy to get to or off the beaten path?

Zoning Zoning will depend upon the district – Residential More restrictions – Can’t build more than 2 stories high – Must be more than 100 feet from a school – Parking entrance may not front a residential street – Business District Fewer restrictions More parking

Competition Where are my competitors located? – Customers want to compare the quality and selection of similar retailers – Mall locations draw customers to your site, even if they hadn’t intended to shop there initially – Store Clusters: A group of stores that appeal to similar demographics – Locate your Old Navy near H&M – Locate your Nike store near Modell’s or Dick’s
