Built by Britain and France on Egypt's land. Britain used the canal as a passageway to India. France used it to get to Vietnam faster. Egypt benefited by the canal because it was a large influx of water, something that was scarce in Egypt.

The canal connects the Red Sea with the Mediterranean Sea. Mostly single laned, with some areas of clearing for passing (pictured above)

During WW1 they were part of the allies and they sided with Britain. Allowed Britain to station troops before they were deployed to the eastern front. They did this in order to get out of Ottoman Empire rule.

They should get complete independence over time and obtain it gradually. They must do it over time because they have been taken over by so many countries. They should adapt a western type of government because no government was present at the time.

After the war in the 1920’s, Muhammad Naguib became the first president of Egypt. He resisted Muhammad Ali who was the ottoman ruler of Egypt still.

In 1952, Naguib and Gamal Abdel Nasser lead the Egyptian revolution of 1952. Nasser became the second official president of Egypt. Nasser died in 1970.

Today the Egyptian people are having a revolution to over throw the 30 year rule of Hosni Mubarak
