What is the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF)? A register of standards and qualifications that are –Nationally recognised –Expressed as achievements –Regularly checked for quality –Used singly or in programmes of learning –Packaged as qualifications

Mode of Assessment External assessment: Marked by national markers. Includes the end of year examinations and portfolios eg Technology, Graphics and Visual Arts Work is assessed by a marker from outside the school Internal assessment: Marked by the school. Credits needed for NCEA Level 1 –80 credits required at any level including literacy credits(reading & writing) and numeracy credits (maths) Level 2 –80 credits of which a minimum of 60 credits is at level 2 or above Level 3 –60 credits at level 3 or above and 20 credits from level 2 or above

Encouraging High Achievement Certificate Endorsement - 50 credits at Excellence = NCEA endorsed with Excellence - 50 credits at Merit (or M/E) = NCEA endorsed with Merit The student will be awarded only one endorsed certificate in any one year, at the highest level possible (e.g. Level 2 Merit will be awarded over a L1 Excellence). Credits can be included for more than one academic year Course Endorsement - 14 credits at Excellence (with 3 internals and 3 externals) = course endorsed with Excellence - 14 credits at Merit (or M/E) = course endorsed with Merit

NZQF Results Notification Entries and results on Student’s secure login Results are online first and not automatically posted Documents such as NCEA, ROA can be ordered from login Documents are not automatically posted If a results document says “SNA” it means standard not attempted. ABS means the student was absent from the exam You can access results by asking for the NSN from your daughter
