PSALM 1 PSALM 100 A PSALM FOR GIVING THANKS

KINGSHIP PSALMS 93:1 The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt. 95:3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. 96:10 Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!

KINGSHIP PSALMS 97:1 The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; 98:6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD! 99:1 The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!

100:1 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Romans 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

3 Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Acts 17:22 So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

BASIC TRUTHS ABOUT GOD God has spoken to man, and the Bible is His Word, given to us to make us wise unto salvation. God is Lord and King over His world; He rules all things for His own glory, displaying His perfections in all that He does, in order that men and angels may worship and adore Him. God is Savior, active in sovereign love through the Lord Jesus Christ to rescue believers from the guilt and power of sin, to adopt them as His sons, and to bless them accordingly.

BASIC TRUTHS ABOUT GOD God is Triune, there are within the Godhead three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; and the work of salvation is one which all three act together, the Father purposing redemption, the Son securing it, and the Spirit applying it. Godliness means responding to God’s revelation in trust and obedience, faith and worship, prayer and praise, submission and service. Life must be seen and lived in the light of God’s Word

GOD IS TRANSCENDENT Creator & Sustainer of the universe Eternal Infinite Sovereign; King Self-existent; Self-sufficient; Absolute Omnipresent; Omniscient; Omnipotent Infallible Immutable

GOD IS IMMANENT Personal; Intimate; Relational Origin of Morality and Logic Holy; Righteous; Perfect Good Loving; Merciful; Gracious Faithful; Honest; Trustworthy; Truthful Father; Husband; Guide; Comforter; Shepherd Redeemer; The Atonement

Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. John 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

John 10:14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!

5 For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 20…And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

PRINCIPLES Because God is transcendent and immanent, Christians are to: – Make a joyful noise to the LORD – Serve the LORD – Come into the LORD’S presence – Know the LORD – Give thanks to the LORD – Bless/Praise the LORD

APPLICATIONS The Holy Triune God is your Creator, is He your Shepherd and Savior? What are you doing to know the LORD? Why are you here? What does your worship look like? How are you representing the LORD to others?
