MRO Image Irwin Universal Handsaw Demonstration Guide

What you need » Flat surface – any table will work » Irwin Bar Clamps (XP or Standard) – 1 will work but 2 is recommended » 1x6 Board or a 2x4 Board – Pine is recommended » 15” IRWIN Universal Handsaw » Competitive Handsaw ▪ Recommendations … Stanley FatMax Coarse (shown), Huskey Coarse, Kobalt Coarse, Any Private Label Coars Saw, Great Neck Coarse » IRWIN Gloves and Safety Glasses

Competitor Sample » Before cutting discuss the basic shape of the competitor saw. Also discuss how the angle of the handsaw promotes very short and choppy cutting strokes. This is very different from the Universal Handsaw » To start cutting I recommend 3 pull strokes to get started » After 3 pull strokes start your cut » Keep the angle of the saw fairly low ▪ Don’t get too steep » The competitor saw will be very difficult to get through the wood ▪ It will stick and bite into the wood more than the Universal Handsaw » As you are cutting make comments to the audience about the difficulty ▪ It should be very obvious » After you cut through the board show the audience the rough finish that the saw produced » After demonstration move on to the Universal Handsaw

Universal Handsaw » Before cutting discuss the unique shape of the Universal Handsaw. Also discuss how the angle of the handle to blade promotes full blade strokes. This will improve speed and provides the easiest and most efficient cut. » To start cutting I recommend 3 pull strokes to get started » After 3 pull strokes start your cut » Keep the angle of the saw fairly low » Use full blade strokes to cut, competitor saw will be short and choppy » The Universal saw will be cut very fast and smooth through the wood. You won’t need as much effort ▪ Discuss this with your audience while cutting » As you are cutting make comments to the audience about the ease of the cut ▪ It will be very obvious » After you cut through the board show the audience the smooth (fine) finish that the saw produced » Discuss how the Universal Handsaw is very different than other saws on the market as you get the FASTEST CUT of any saw on the market with FINE FINISH

Marking Feature 90 Degrees » To mark a line on a board make sure the handsaw handle is flush with the board » To mark a 90 degree line you have two options 1. Utilize the center line cut out. This line will draw a 90 degree line across a 2x4 or partially across a 1x6 »To complete the line use the top line of the saw and complete the line across the board 2. Utilize the top edge of the handsaw. This will provide a longer line across a 1x6. »To complete use the cut out line in the center of the handsaw » Make your cut

Marking Features 45 Degrees » To mark a line on a board make sure the handsaw handle is flush with the board » To mark a 45 degree line you have to make your initial line using the top angle of the handsaw » After drawing the initial line use the top edge of the saw to complete your line » Make your cut

Summary » Key discussion points … ▪ Handle to blade relationship and the encouragement of full blade strokes ▪ Ease and speed of cut compared to the competition ▪ Fine finish of board compared to competition ▪ The ability to draw a 90 and 45 degree line on your board
