Fundraising ‘Dress Down’ Friday 26 August 2016 Students who wish to participate in the Fundraising ‘Dress Down’ Friday 26 August are asked to pay £1 to come to school casually dressed. Students who do not wish to participate should come to school wearing school uniform. Monies collected will be split – Two thirds donated to charity whilst the remaining one third will go to the School Fund.

Age 5-15? Love wildlife and want to help protect it? Join the Conservation Action Team (CAT) based at Edinburgh Zoo!

CAT runs on the second Saturday of the month from September – June and is open to anyone in P2 - S4. Through this programme, children will discover not only RZSS animals but also the exciting native wildlife on site, from butterflies to badgers! CAT is about having fun whilst learning about, and acting for, local and global conservation in lots of different ways. Activities include making wildlife homes, bush craft, gardening, encounters, zoo trails, games and much more! Choose from one of the following timeslots Morning:9.00am - 11.00am Lunchtime:12.00pm - 2.00pm Afternoon:3.00pm - 5.00pm

As a CAT member you may also have the opportunity to achieve your John Muir Award, an environmental award scheme focused on wild places, encouraging people to connect with, enjoy and care for our natural environment. Trainee Applications Support Officer An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and enthusiastic candidates to develop the necessary skills to deliver software and applications support to staff across all Council services. Based in Midlothian House as part of the Business Applications Team within Business Services, you will provide support for a number of business critical systems utilised by Finance & Revenues, HR/Payroll, Education, Health and Social Care, Property & Roads Maintenance and Waste Services. You will work to support the modernisation and development of processes and the production of management information. This role would suit ambitious individuals who would be interested in developing a career in the support of software/applications and are looking for an entry level post that offers the prospect of gaining a breadth of experience. Requirements You must hold a minimum of three National 4s including Mathematics and English, with some practical experience or demonstration of competency in the use of Microsoft Office software. You should also be able to demonstrate interpersonal skills, an awareness of the importance of confidentiality, an attention to detail and an ability to prioritise to achieve deadlines. It is expected that the successful candidate will work towards completion of SVQ level 3 Business and Administration in year 1 and HNC Admin & Information Technology in years 2 & 3. A programme of on the job training will be provided to complement formal study.
