Walmart Travel Program Overview The Walmart Global Travel Security program supports offices and stores in 36 countries with business travel to over 86 countries that generate 20,000 annual international trips by associates. We have a centralized dedicated team that is divided into geographical areas of responsibility to monitor & assess travel security risk. Our regional security staff provides real-time insight and perspective on issues/events that may impact travel. We determine security support for travelers based on the defined safety & security risks of the location (destination and waypoints along the route). Our security risk is defined by using key resources from proprietary, open-source, and purchased services. The Walmart Global Travel Security team has the ability to restrict travel to locations where we feel the risk to associates is too high.

Poll: assessment of your travel security program How would you rate your travel security program? None Exist Minimal Average Above Average Class Leading

Where to Start…? Level-set expectations with your leadership team - VUCA: volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. Discuss Travel Security and Extractions. Talk to your Legal Partners about Duty of Care – …act in a prudent and cautious fashion to mitigate the risk of foreseeable injury to those who travel (work) for us… Talk to your HR Partners about Risk & Insurance – Coverage for travelers who become injured or ill. Coverage for liability issues – auto accidents

Where do your people go…? No Travel team? Use Survey Monkey (or similar service) and poll folks on their international travel in a given year: What destinations are common? Where are they staying (hotels) Where are the challenges or security issues? What support do they feel they need? Etc. Identify what Org drives the business deployment process and engage them to understand new markets/countries that will open for your company.

Poll: what level of risk is acceptable? How risk tolerant is your company? We avoid increased risk consistently Slight risk adverse Moderate risk is acceptable Slight risk acceptance We accept increased risk consistently

Travel Support - Be the Business Partner Let the business decide on the location – focus on how they can be supported to accomplish their mission. We don’t need to say “No.” We need to say – “This is the level of support you will need…. and the associated cost for that support will be ____ US dollars.” Explain to the business that the security plan for the traveler(s) to and while at the location is risk mitigation and not risk elimination.

Travel Support – Partner & Define How does the traveler communicate an issue when something goes wrong? Missed flight Security or life safety incident Security support for higher risk areas Etc. Connect with HR to understand the medical support for associates who travel outside of their home country. Medical coverage Medical extraction Emergency funds Etc.

Travel Support - Services Security Services – internal support is not always an option. Using a security and/or assessment service provider can dramatically increase your ability to support the business. International SOS (iSOS) iJet Frontier MEDEX etc

Travel Support - Services Risk Based Security Assessments & Risk Exposure – to provide consistent, reliable, measured security risk based assessments you will need to establish a process to define risk. Also, don’t forget the Consulates / Embassy in the destination countries. Fee Based: CRG (iSOS), Frontier MEDEX, iJet, etc.
