American Express Bank is a component of the Dow 30. Fortune Magazine lists American Express has one of the 30 most admired companies. CHALLENGES / OPPORTUNITIES American Express has been running Oracle Financials since 2006 on 11.5.10.2 but needed to upgrade to R12.0.6 for the following reason. R12 is required to support the ‘subledger’ activities such as AP, PA, Receivables. American Express would like to replace Ariba as their purchasing solution for 40,000+ employees. R12 is required to support American Express’ complex security requirements. SOLUTION/ PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS American Express has a complex production environment consisting of GL, FCH, PFT Over 100 Linux, Solaris and Windows servers BIEE, Hyperion System 9, Informatica, Discoverer and EBS on RAC 100+ CEMLIs The Oracle consulting team consisted of 13 resources positioned in Phoenix, AZ and Guragon, India. The upgrade was done in 72 hours and involved EBS 11.5.10.2 to R12.0.6 RAC RDBMS 10.2.0.3 to 11.1.0.7 Informatica 8.5.1 to 8.6.1 OBIEE 10.1.3.3 to 10.1.3.4.1 Discoverer 10.1 to 10.1.2.55 ASSM Conversion of 300GB table space After the upgrade, we migrated in 24 hours 100+ R12 CEMLIs 35 patches After the upgrade, only two minor issues and month-end processing went flawlessly.
