Optional Extra Credit Make your own weathering and erosion comic strip
2
You have learned about the difference between weathering and erosion, and the two different types of weathering (physical and chemical). Your assignment is to draw a comic strip about a rock that undergoes at least 3 different kinds of weathering (example: frost action, animal action, rock falls, carbonation, oxidation, hydration, plant growth (acid and roots), abrasion, or acid rain) and experiences at least 2 different kinds of erosion sometime along its journey (transported in a glacier, stream, ocean wave, wind, river, etc.). You must include examples of both chemical and physical/mechanical weathering in your comic strip. Be sure to label each example of weathering. Have fun with this!
3
Here are some tips to get you started: 1.It may help if you start with a rough draft of just the story you are trying to tell. 2.Draw at least 1 square for each example of weathering. You may draw more if you need to. 3.Be creative…name your rock and have it go on an adventure. 4.Identify the type of rock (sedimentary, igneous, metamorphic) you are drawing about. Include it somehow in the comic. 5.You may use dialog in your comic to help explain the story. 6.The use of color would be a great addition to the comic strip.

You earn credit completing the following things: 1.Neatness 2.3 kinds of weathering properly and accurately labeled. 3.2 kinds of erosion properly and accurately labeled. 4.Use of both mechanical and chemical weathering in the comic strip.
