2. Psalm 127:1-5 NKJ A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep. 3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed (shamed), But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

3. Moms and Dads We have had Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Today is Baby Dedication Day. This your day too. It is really Parent Dedication Day… And Church Dedication Day. We wish you God’s best. We desire to add blessing to your lives through the Scriptures. May God bless this Psalm to your lives, homes, work, and church. Let’s look at TWO things this morning.

4. I. The King of Our Home (1,2) When we reflect on the Lord we know that He is our source of: Permanence or Stability (vs. 1a) – He gives empowerment or competence to our building. Protection or Security (vs. 1b) – He gives enablement or vigilance to our watching. Peace or Serenity (vs. 2) - He gives enjoyment or fulfillment to our daily work.

5. II. The Kids In Our Home (3-5) When we reflect Biblically on our kids, grandkids, church kids, and school kids God allows us to see: Inheritance and Blessing (vs. 3)– God has meant them to be desired and valuable Design and Direction (vs. 4) – With planning they will achieve God’s purpose Satisfaction and Impact (vs. 5) – God desires that they provide solutions to life’s problems – not become problems that need solutions.

6. ¶ If GOD doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks. If GOD doesn’t guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap. 2 It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves? 3 Don’t you see that children are GOD’s best gift? the fruit of the womb his generous legacy? 4 Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth. 5 Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you; you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep.

7. Lord, we parents, teachers, and members of Grace Baptist Church thank you for building, protecting, and blessing our homes and church. Thank you for giving us purpose and joy in the work of our daily lives. Thank you for the heritage and reward of children. Thank you for your design and direction in their lives. May they achieve your purposes. Thank you for the success you will give them as they walk in your ways. Give us strength, wisdom, obedience, and blessing as we fashion these precious arrows for the day of their flight. In Jesus’ name and for your righteousness we say AMEN.
