“They Labor In Vain” Who set the wrong priorities for children. Best schools & best educational opportunities Access to the best health care Best housing possible Acceptance among their peers Stable job that will pay well A good marriage & healthy children To get the most pleasure out of living If priorities in a Christian family are the same priorities of families in the world, the same results (fruit) can be expected (Gal 6:7-8). Jesus tells us how to prevent disaster in our homes (Matt 6:19-34).

“They Labor In Vain” Who have the wrong priorities as parents Financial reasons: to be able to give the children the best material things. Career reasons: mom has career goals that would interfere with too much child rearing. Societal reasons: large families are frowned upon in society. “Children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate” (Psa 127:3-5).
