M-Step Testing 5 th grade is DONE 4 th grade is finishing next week 3 rd grade will be starting May 18 Grade 3 - English language arts (reading, writing and listening) and mathematics Grade 4 - English language arts, mathematics and SCIENCE Grade 5 - English language arts, mathematics and SOCIAL STUDIES It will be taken on computers Schedule - Please DO NOT plan any travel

Cultural Awareness Day and Parade of Nations Tuesday, June 9 – 8:10 am -3:00 pm We will be celebrating the cultural diversity at Hampton Our hope is that grade levels will rotate thru three presentations in one hour to learn about different countries and cultures. WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS What would you share about your country? What is school like? What food is eaten? What is the money like? What is the music like? ANYTHING The Parade of Nations will start at 2:15pm Students walk in honor of their country. They can wear traditional clothing, the colors of their flag, even every day clothing! Countries will be announced and students will parade thru the gym behind the flag of their country (like the Olympics)

Summer Learning Opportunities/ Activities ESL Writing Calendar/ Reading Log Will come home in June. Students who complete the reading log and writing calendar can turn them back into Ms. Kiser/ Ms. Wolski in the fall for a prize Hampton Learning Packets $5.oo Grade level specific packets – Information/ order forms going home Monday Library Classes, book clubs, etc. – Come hear more at the Parent Center on May 19 RCS Summer School Online Registration – District Website There are math and reading classes, as well as creative writing sessions. If your child receives free or reduced lunch, they may qualify for a reduced cost. No Oakland University Summer School

Move-ups (hand-outs) If you are unhappy or your child is unhappy, it is most important to be POSITIVE! Change takes time. Kindergarten to 1 st grade 2 nd to 3 rd grade 5 th to Middle School Students attending West and Hart will visit those middle schools on June 3 rd We will need parents to drive. Parents can listen to the presentation, but the students will tour the students with 8 th graders Parents and students will be invited in the summer to visit the school
