Equilibrium means that... 4 …there is no rotation. 4 …there is no acceleration. 4 …there is no net force acting on the object.

Problem Solution Method 4 Isolate the object for discussion. 4 Show the force acting on the isolated object in a diagram (the free body diagram). 4 Find the rectangular components of each force. 4 Write the first condition for equilibrium in equation form. 4 Solve for the require quantities.
