Using grids and coordinates Grid maps are another way to look at finding location. Instead of latitude and longitude lines, use grid squares to find a specific place on a small area of the earth. Cheddar, England is found in grid square A-9

Continents vs. Countries A continent is one of the large, principal land masses of the world. Earth has seven continents, Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. A country is a man-made territory that a particular political organization says is theirs. The boundaries are called “political lines” and can be found on a “political map”
