2  To provide students with another resource and tool to further enhance their skills and knowledge needed to successfully enter college or the workforce.  To expand each student’s learning to be inclusive of our interconnected global society.. Goals for the 1:1 Initiative Power Point

3  Each student will receive a laptop  Distribution  Eligible to receive laptop if:  Digital Power Point has been viewed  Parent and students have signed and returned  Acceptable Use Policy  Student-Guardian Laptop Agreement

4  Improve overall computer skills/21 st Century skills  Tool to increased access and opportunity to learning:  Classwork/Homework  Creation  Communication  Collaboration  Problem Solving Benefits of 1:1

5  Digital Citizenship  Instructional Use  Gdrive, Gmail, Blackboard(Bb), other software  CARE/-trouble shooting (Wi-Fi connect, re-start, forgotten password)  Digital Footprint  Responsibilities and choices  Benefits and risks of sharing information *To be completed school wide the first Thursday and Friday mornings of School. 6  Take laptop to school charged daily  Monitor use  Is it school related  Show me what you are doing  Contact a faculty/staff if there are concerns Student Reminders  No installing of software/hardware  When picking up or carrying laptop-DO NOT pick up or carry by the screen, but by the base/keyboard.  Do label your laptop and Power back  Considerate of band width Help from Home

8 What if my child wants to bring his/her own laptop to school? -ACPS has a bring your own device open policy; however, we do not recommend this for several reasons: ■ Students will only have to access ACPS wireless, which is a lot slower. ■ Students might not have specific programs installed for classes that they will need. ■ Students personal devices will not be serviced by staff members if they are not working. 9 What if my child’s computer is not working? o We have a troubleshooting procedure. The students will be trained to take specific steps when issues arise. o We have a student-led tech team who will resolve some issues. 10  How do I keep up with 1:1 information throughout the year? WAHS has a 1:1 website that will be updated on a regular basis and serve as a warehouse for information and resources for staff, students, and parents. Q & A cont’d…

12  Is there a fee for lost or damaged laptops or chargers?  A cost will be assessed once an assessment has been made  Fees will be up to full replacement cost in the amount of $600 (See Schedule below):  full replacement - $550  screen - $100  screen bezel - $50  keyboard - $100  bottom case/palm rest (tend to break together) - $120  AC adapter - $75  damage to USB or audio ports which tend to require mother board replacement - $200 Q & A cont’d…

14 Main Page  Name, with a brief, Professional Biography  Department  Room Number  Contact link (part of SharePoint Template)  Schedule with:  What is taught each block  In which room the course is taught (for those who are mobile)  Planning period, along with which room the faculty member will be located (for those who are mobile)  CARE availability in S1 and S2  Links to specific course pages (ex: ENG 9AA, ENG 10AA)  If a Club Sponsor/Coach a link to the Club/Sports Page  If using some other website (ex: Blackboard, Google) for additional resources like a calendar or links to homework files. 15 Items Teachers should have posted on their school webpage cont’d… Class Pages  Syllabi/Pacing Guides  In the syllabi, make sure to include any rule/policy changes for your class that you intend to have regarding the 1:1 rollout.  Some type of calendar where homework is posted.  If using Blackboard, Google, or any other site, a link along with an explanation of what students/parents will find on that link.
