5. Leased by Lenovo All of the equipment is leased to Marquardt School District 15. Per the agreement all equipment needs to be maintained and repaired. Equipment needs to be returned in the same conduction in which it was received.

6. Laptop Care Carry in Laptop Bag at all times Charge nightly Visit LMC at first sign of trouble (don’t put it off) Do not leave unattended (laptop, keyboard and charger) Avoid eating and drinking near laptop Preparing students for their future, not our past

Suggested Guidelines for Home Internet Safety Parents should set and enforce rules for home Internet use –Have computer in a common room (not in a bedroom with the door closed) –Time limit on Internet, instant messaging, social networking sites, online games, etc. –Parents should ask and know student’s personal username and password –Parents should have access to and monitor student’s e-mail and social networking –Check web browser history regularly Preparing students for their future, not our past

8. Required Use Policy/Code of Conduct Just like a textbook or locker, District 15 owns the laptop. Students are permitted to use it for educational purposes. Prohibited use: Bypassing the filter Using another student’s username and password Sharing passwords Downloading or installing programs or apps Tampering with the hardware Pornographic, obscene, graphically violent, or other material not conducive to the learning environment –Music, sounds, language, videos, pictures, and other materials Preparing students for their future, not our past

9. Laptop Insurance Why have insurance? –To protect you and protect the District when students take the laptop off campus –Insurance picks up for all costs that exceed the deductible which is $100.00 for each individual incident –The cost for insurance is $50.00 per year. 10. Laptop Insurance It pays for direct physical loss of, or damage to, the computer from any of the covered causes for loss that occur within the U.S. What’s not covered: Any damage resulting in repairs costs of less than $100 Neglect of the Keyboard, Power Adaptor or Carrying case resulting in damage, loss, or theft Damage to your student’s or another student’s laptop as a result of misbehavior Each damage or loss incident has a separate deductible Preparing students for their future, not our past

12. Laptop Insurance If repair or replacement is needed –The cost to repair or replace the computer/accessory is assessed –Parents are contacted regarding the necessary repairs if it will result in a bill to the family –Repair/Replacement cost of lost or damaged accessories is collected –When the bill is paid in full the equipment is sent for repairs or replaced Preparing students for their future, not our past

13. For Example A student reports their charger missing to the LMC. The cost of a new chargers is $50. The deductible is $100. The charger does not exceed or meet the $100 so the student will be billed $50.

14. For Example A student reports to the LMC that their computer frame and screen has cracked. The student says they forgot to zip their bag and the computer fell out. The cost to repair the screen and frame is about $600. The cost for repair exceeds the $100 deductible so the student will be billed $100.
