5
5 © 2015 IBM Corporation License metric thresholds for IBM products – Demonstration Scenario Scenario: To increase awareness of possible incompliance exposures, Software Asset Manager wants to be notified when calculated license metric utilization exceeds a given value. This notification, provides information that some deployed products need his or her attention. It happens without a need to periodically review the application UI. Comment: Current implementation provides this capability for IBM PVU/RVU MAPC licensed products. In case of positive customer feedback, it is likely to be extended to cover other than PVU license metrics, and with the option to add supporting information to the threshold.

8 © 2015 IBM Corporation Introduction to ‚Preview Features’ in ILMT/BigFix Inventory Starting from the June 2016 update, ILMT and BigFix Inventory will be provided with ‚Preview Features’. This is a way to present features, which likely will be continued, and their final shape depends on clients’ feedback. ‚Preview Features’ by default will not be visible and have no impact on standard features until enabled by the User with administrative privilages. To Enable/Disable ‚Preview Feature’ go to Management/Preview Feature Settings. Each ‚Preview Feature’ is delivered with GA quality, supported by IBM Support (PMR). Unlike GA features, the documentation of preview features is available only on dedicated website, from where PDF documents can be downloaded.

9 © 2015 IBM Corporation Preview Feature: new ‚Software Classification’ panel The new panel introduces an enhanced approach to working with software inventory and software classification. Advanced sorting and filtering capability together with the support for pre-defined and custom reports makes the task of software classification well-structured and effective. It reduces maintance cost in software catalog lifecycle. A notification about the need of updating the catalog is triggered only when IBM software was discovered with SWID tag, but currently deployed catalog does not provide a classification hint. The new panel aims to eventually replace the existing IBM Software Classification panel.
10
10 © 2015 IBM Corporation New Software Classification panel – Demonstration Scenarios Scenario A: As User responsible for keeping Asset Management solution in a good health, I want to be informed about recommended update of the IBM Catalog, only when it helps to address the incompliance issue. Scenario B: As Asset Manager I want to ensure continues compliance regardles of IBM Catalog and on special terms of classification of software I own. In order to do this I need best possible way to search, filter out and sort the information needed for performing classification tasks.

© 2015 IBM Corporation Part 3: Signature-less discovery with SWID tags
13
13 © 2015 IBM Corporation Signature-less discovery with SWID tags ISO/IEC 19770-2 establishes specifications for tagging software to ensure its reliable identification and management. Support of SWID tags in ILMT and BigFix Inventory allows for discovering and classifying software regardless of its presence in the catalog provided by IBM or created by the user. Scenario: - As Software Asset Manager I need to see, on Software Inventory report software which is not in the IBM Catalog, but instead its discovery was enabled by Vendor who instrumented it with ISO 19770-2 SWID tag.

© 2015 IBM Corporation Part 4: New, flexible, role-based, customizable UI
16
16 © 2015 IBM Corporation New UI Preview panel presented before is aligned with the evolution of UI. The intent is to avoid major re-design of UI, so all users can still easily find the elements they are familiar with. Changes presented on next slides are not yet available in the product, they are in the process of validation of the approach with Customers. Objectives: –Role driven Workspace, represented by ‚Preferred Reports’ provides user friendly access to reports. –Configurable Workspace allows managing of even large set of custom reports and having them at hand. –Two general scenarios, from which more specific scenarios can be derived: Work with high level reports to ensure license compliance (‚Preferred reports’) Exploration of collected hardware and software information to deep dive in supporting data facts (‚Explore data’) –Powerful sorting and filtering capabilities derived as pre-defined and custom-defined view on data, tailored to role and task (fe. To support software classification)

17 © 2015 IBM Corporation The Main Menu The Main Menu Items groups three categories: Preffered Reports – for reports that should be available directly from the Main Menu. This is customizable menu grouping reports from pre- defined, out of the box set, and custom (saved) reports with provides filtered views on data with defined set of columns. Explore Data – software and hardware data colected from the infrastructure. Catalog data exploration. Settings – server configuration data.
