3 Wealth - 1990 Wealth - 2015 It shows how rich China is compared to the rest of the world Questions: 1) How has China’s wealth changed between 1990 and 2015? 2) What might this mean for the people of China?

4 What is China Like? I am going to show you two videos, both about China. For each video, you need to fill in the table based on your opinion.

5 Activities 1) What impression did video 1 give you about China? 2) What impression did video 2 give you about China? Extension – Write a brief paragraph explaining whether you would like to visit China or not and why.

6 Beijing? What is Bejing? It is not just China that has this big split between rich and poor, but also the cities themselves. Let’s take a quick tour of Beijing…

18 Summary Pick one picture from the ‘good’ side and one picture from the ‘bad’. Using the pictures you have chosen, write a paragraph describing China/Beijing to somebody who knows nothing about it. Remember to give a balanced argument. You can also refer to the videos if you wish.
