Chernobyl The Chernobyl incident happed when a soviet nuclear power plant exploded spewing toxic chemicals everywhere affecting many countries especially Chernobyl. Effects caused many birth defects and contaminated approximately 17 million people Fact: The power plant explosion was equivalent to 500 atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima

Conclusion: Russia’s nuclear power plants, radioactive waste dumps, and their uranium/ plutonium factories all created pollution causing acid rain, polluted rivers, and severely polluted areas of the U.S.S.R.
