Goals Trace the development of monumental art following the dark ages, which lasted in Greece from about 1200 BCE to about 800 BCE. List the characteristic functions, elements and principles of Geometric, Orientalizing and Archaic Greek art. – Geometric, 8 th century BCE (800 to 701 BCE) – Orientalizing, c. 7 th century BCE (700 to 601 BCE) – Archaic, 6 th century BCE (600 to 501 BCE)

Greek Dark-age and the Dorian migration The collapse of the Mycenaean civilization is commonly attributed to the Dorian invasion, although other theories describing natural disasters and climate change have been advanced as well.
