3. Let’s Read!! Best friends are often alike in many ways, but they can also be very different. Mrs. Autry and Mrs. Horne met in 2000 at Mineral Springs Elementary school. They both taught 5 th grade there for 5 years. Neither one were married, but they both had fiancés. They both loved to sing, dance and rap, and quickly formed a rap/pop group called Salt and Pepper. Mrs. Horne liked to sing better than Mrs. Autry; Mrs. Autry had mad rap skills on the mic. A few years later Mrs. Horne had her first child, Jaden. Mrs. Autry loves Jaden just as much as Mrs. Horne. Fast forward to 2016. Both Mrs. Horne and Mrs. Autry teach at EFMS and have for 11 years. Mrs. Horne teaches Math and S.S. and Mrs. Autry…L.A. and S.S. They both teach 6 th and 7 th grade. Mrs. Horne now has 3 children, and, Mrs. Autry has none. They are both looking forward to the summer. Mrs. Autry looks forward to the beach and relaxing and spending time with her cats. Mrs. Horne looks forward to just chillin’ and staying away from cats! AHHCHOO!!!  What does this informational article “do”?

Compare and Contrast  Your task…  Reread the article comparing Mrs. Horne and Mrs. Autry.  Locate the following and write them on separate sticky notes…  At least 3 similarities  At least 2 differences for Mrs. Horne  At least 2 differences for Mrs. Autry  Now, take your sticky notes and put them on your assigned venn diagram.

Review  Friday you completed activities that allowed you to explore Compare and Contrast.  These type of Informational Texts compare (similarities) and contrast (differences) 2 things or people.  You explored similarities and differences between Mrs. Autry and Mrs. Horne; Kangaroos and wallabies and 2 rides at Disney World.  This week, for H.W., you will read an informational article and compare and contrast what the author is writing about.  I will give you more information at the end of class!!!

13. Let’s Read!! My Saturday morning was crazy. I made an appointment for a 9:00 a.m. mani/pedi, and needed to wake up at 7:00 (so I would have time to wash my feet so the nail stylist wouldn’t pass out),but Friday night I accidently set my alarm clock for PM instead of AM!!! This caused me to wake up super late!!! When I looked at my phone and realized it was 8:40, I freaked out!!! I threw on some clothes and flip flops (of course my Rainbows) and ran out the door (No…I didn't wash my feet  ). I drove my car as fast as the law allowed all the while thinking about how late I was going to be AND about how stinky my feet probably were. When I pulled into the parking lot (on two wheels), everyone was outside and there were fire trucks all lined up in front of the building, and an ambulance. I jumped up and down to know I was not late!! Once all the drama ended, I sat down in the chair, at 9:10 on the dot, and soaked my feet while my fingernails were being painted!! (FYI…the stylist never smelled my feet because she had on a mask AND the fire and EMT where there because a new worker smelled too much polish and passed out.) What does this informational article “do”?

14. Which one??  Process of Elimination tells us it is…  Order and Sequence!!!  This means the author provides readers with events that are told in order. These can be instructions, steps in a process, or…  The text you read tells the order of my Saturday morning from 8:40-9:10.

15.  Review my morning.  I want you to illustrate my morning from the night before until when I was sitting in the chair getting pampered.  Make sure you number each box.  Each box must contain color, either in what you draw or the background.  You must also caption each box.  P.S.
