2. Once upon a time, in a very unhappy ago, there was a small kingdom.

3. It had one serious problem……

4. It was ruled by Mike Bland, who had started off harmlessly boring. … but now he believed himself to possess great skills of Media Spin….. He looked and sounded a bit like this…

5. blah…. blah… blah…. blah Blah…

6. ….What did he blah about, I hear you ask, boys and girls? Well, most of the time it was hard to tell; it was so bland and blahry, but sometimes you could hear things about…

7. Law and Order!

8. Warships!

9. Law and Order!

10. Uranium!

11. Law and Order!

12. Mullets!

13. Law and Order!

14. In the meantime, the rivers were filling up with salt, and the trees and birds and fish were dying…..

15. The people were getting sick but had nowhere to go….

16. …their jobs were getting harder and they had to work longer…

17. The boys’ and girls’ schools were getting shabbier and scabbier…

18. And the whole planet was getting hotter and hotter….. Some thought it was all Mike’s hot air, but others knew the real cause…

19. And the more he blahed, the more he believed his own blah, and the more the newspapers and radio, that loved blah, played him…..

20. blah…. blah… blah…. blah Blah…..until the whole kingdom was smothered in blah…… Blah was in the sinks, the gutters, the kids’ pencil cases, the beds, the bookshelves, the dog kennels, the cat trays….. … it was in the laundries, the pool halls, the offices, the dishwashers, the kitchen sinks…

21. Finally the people had had enough! It was coming up election time, and they could see a strange figure looming on the horizon…..

22. It was the Jolly Green Giant!

23. “Please sir,” some of them implored, “Can’t you stop this infernal blahing. We’ve tried everything – only you can save us!”

24. “Sure thing”, said the Jolly Green Giant, “It’s easy. I and my Green Elves can solve these problems…… Just elect me, and the blah and hoo ha, and even the claptrap will go away, and we’ll get back to Living Happily Ever After…

25. But some of the townspeople looked sceptical. “Aren’t you just a tree-hugger?” someone said.

26. The Jolly Green Giant just smiled, and clicked his fingers. Instantly, in the sky, these letters appeared: www.sagreens.org.au

27. “Just check out my magic book to find out about our ideas,” he grinned.

28. Now, boys and girls, what do you think those townspeople did????

29. Well, I’m sorry to say, that bit of the story hasn’t been written just yet… but, when we get together for story-time again on March 19 th, I can read the rest of it to you then…. Now run off and play, and just have a think about that Jolly Green Giant…..
