19
Traditional library is slowly being replaced by e-resources Undergraduate students are more dependant upon online- resources: especially Forecast services, e.g., WGSN. Postgraduate students are more dependant upon databases, e.g., Proquest, fiber2fashion. Students have shown their keen interest in using online resources for creating their final collection in catwalk. Host sites should provide simple and user friendly search tools. User orientation: bringing awareness of e-resources and the technology. Findings
20
New Challenges in Fashion Education Solutions Lack of awareness about availability of resources Students should be instructed and guided about relevant e-resources Students hail from varied backgrounds Periodic orientation on: Technological advancements Availability and Use of e-resources Challenges Scarcity of structured data on fashion and allied areas. Forecast resources/e- journals/databases/ e-reports are to be subscribed and archive materials may be digitized.
21
ICT forms a significant step in taking forward Knowledge Centers to meet the ever changing demands of the fashion student community. e-Resources helps the budding designers to access the updated information easily. Conclusions
22
Libraries should provide updated infrastructure for the continuous development of e-resources in a higher education environment. specific electronic sources search strategies information needs Further research is required, to investigate how the faculty members actually interact with information, what specific electronic sources they visit more than others, what search strategies they use, as well as the extent to which their information needs are satisfied.
