3 Revision A pack of candies costs $1.00. Can you pay using all quarters, all dimes or all nickels. Which coins would you need the least? Pay for candies with 4 quarters, 10 dimes or 20 nickels; Quarters Nick wants to buy flowers for his mother. He has 3 quarters, 2 dimes and 1 nickel. This is equal to the cost of the flowers. 4 Revision Anne wants to buy two dolls. Each doll is for 45cents. She has 2 quarters and 2 dimes.  Does she have enough money for both? 6 Clock We can tell the time by looking at the position of hands of a clock. Minute Hand Hour Hand The hour hand is the shorter hand and points at the hour of the day. The minute hand is the longer hand that shows the time in minutes in that hour. Copyright © Ed2Net Learning, Inc.6

7 Hour When the hour hand is at one of the numbers from 1 to 12 and the minute hand is at 12 then the time is that hour. Copyright © Ed2Net Learning, Inc.7

11 Half Hour When the clock shows the minute hand at 6 then it signifies 30 minutes. If you count by 5s you will have counted 30 minutes at 6. You will also see that the hour hand has moved half way between the initial hour and the next hour. Copyright © Ed2Net Learning, Inc.11

21 Between any two numbers the time is 5 minutes. Count by 5s to know the time.  For Example: Count by 5s: 5, 10. The hour hand is at 10. So the time is 10:10 Copyright © Ed2Net Learning, Inc.21

25 Time to 15 Minutes 15 Minutes is also called Quarter Hour. 1:00 1:15 1:30 1:45 2:00 You can see 15 minutes make quarter hour. There are four quarters in an hour. In a quarter hour minute hand moves around one-fourth of the clock. Copyright © Ed2Net Learning, Inc.25

29 Time Before and After the Hour How to tell time before and after the Hour?  You can show this time as 7:15  You can also say the time is a quarter after 7:00 or 15 minutes after 7:00.  There is another way to say the same time.
