Uses of Assessment Teacher Uses and Benefits –Helps pinpoint specific writing errors related to introductory paragraphs for essays –Also helps me identify specific writing errors such as grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. issues. –Helps gauge what needs to be re-taught –Helps me progress monitor students by comparing their earlier essay introductions and how they used the checklist earlier in the year

Challenges Even with reminder cues, some students still struggle with what each component means. The process of learning to write specific comments has been tricky.
