Why Starbuks? The history and development of Strabuks coffee company gives an example of rapid development of business, so called “American dream”

What is it? Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company in the world, with 20,891 stores in 62 countries, including 13,279 in the United States, 1,324 in Canada, 989 in Japan, 851 in China, 806 in the United Kingdom, 556 in South Korea, 377 in Mexico, 291 in Taiwan, 206 in the Philippines, 179 in Turkey, 171 in Thailand, and 167 in Germany.

History The first Starbucks opened in Seattle, Washington, on March 30, 1971 by three partners who met while students at the University of San Francisco: English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegl, and writer Gordon Bowker. The three were inspired to sell high-quality coffee beans and equipment by coffee roasting entrepreneur Alfred Peet after he taught them his style of roasting beans. They contributed 1350$ each and borrowed another 5000 $ to start the shop in Seattle, State Washington.

How it all started and expanded 1971- foundation, 1971-1979 rapidly expanded with the help of more experienced company Peet’s Coffee 1979- managers bought Peet’s Coffee 1981 –owned 5 shops and a little coffee factory

1987 sold again, this time for 4 million dollars Since 1987 Starbucks has opened on average two new stores every day. 1992 Starbuks first appeared on the market it was represented by 165 coffee-shops The first store outside the United States or Canada opened in Tokyo in 1996

LOGO The first shop was named after the character from the novel “Mobbi Dick” by Herman Melvill. At the beginnig the suggested name was “Pecod”, which was not finally accepted and later changed to the name of the first Akhava’s assistant –Starbuck.. The logo is presented by the stylish picture of serene.

By the 1 st of March 2012 there had been 19,435 coffee-shops in58 countries all-over the world with a total staff about 140,000 people

Starbucks is an active member of the World Cocoa Foundation. Starbucks locations serve hot and cold beverages, whole-bean coffee, micro ground instant coffee, full-leaf teas, pastries, and snacks. Most stores also sell pre- packaged food items, hot and cold sandwiches, and items such as mugs and tumblers.

. Starbuks Evenings locations also offer a variety of beers, wines, and appetizers after 4pm. Through the Starbucks Entertainment division and Hear Music brand, the company also markets books, music, and film. Many of the company's products are seasonal or specific to the locality of the store. Starbucks-brand ice cream and coffee are also offered at grocery stores and is popular all over the world.

One of the traditional demands –the entrance door always looks over the East or South, but never North.According to Scott Bedberry, one of the trendmakers, the reason for this is that the customers should enjoy the daylight but not get the direct sunlight rays.
