2
MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS Primary reproductive organs; *Testes.
3
MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS Accessory reproductive structures; Duct system: *epididymis, *ductus deferens *ejaculatory duct *urethra.
4
MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS Accessory glands : *Seminal vesicles, *Prostate and *Bulbourethral glands.
5
MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS External genitalia: *Penis. *Scrotum.
6
Testes Firm oval organ, 4 cm long, and 2.5 cm width. Suspended within the scrotum. Covered with fibrous connective tissue capsule, (tunica albuginea) Divided into lobules each lobule contains 1 -4 coiled seminiferous tubules. The formed sperms drained into a network called rete testis Finally reach the epididymis.
7
EPIDIDYMIS Comma-shaped, coiled tube, 6 m long. It is the place for storage and maturation of sperms, lasts about 20 days. From the epididymis, the sperms go to the ductus deferens.
8
DUCTUS DEFERENS Muscular tube, carries the sperms to the ejaculatory duct (a canal inside the prostate) It lies enclosed within the spermatic cord.
9
URETHRA Extends from the neck of urinary bladder to tip of penis. It has three parts: - prostatic urethra. - membranous urethra. - penile urethra.
10
SEMINAL VESICLES Lie at the base of the bladder. Their ducts join the ductus deferens to make the ejaculatory duct. Produce 60% of the seminal fluid for nourishment and activation of sperms.
11
PROSTATE Single gland lies below neck of the bladder. Traversed by the prostatic urethra. It's secretion activates the sperm.
12
BULBOURETHRAL GLANDS Small, pea-sized glands inferior to the prostate. Produce thick mucus for cleaning and lubrication of urethra.
13
Scrotum Fold (sac) of skin hanging outside the abdominal cavity. keeps the testes at optimal temperature for the spermatogenesis
14
Penis The male copulatory organ. Consists of root, shaft and glans. The prepuce is a skin fold covering the glans.
