Welcome to Mrs. Patterson’s Class Honors Biology
2
Material’s Required Dedicated Notebook Mechanical Pencil Colored pens/pencils
3
Accommodations Individual Education Plans and 504’s o I have so many different accommodations to keep up with that sometimes I may forget something. Please remind me and I will do what is needed. Other Accommodations o If you need something that is reasonable please come in and talk to me before or after class. (Never during)
4
Expectations These apply to you and me
5
Respect Your fellow students and their comments and thoughts. The teacher in the classroom. Other teachers and employees at the school. You don’t have to like someone or agree with them to be respectful
6
Empathy Understanding others’ thoughts and feelings. Cut someone a little bit of slack for being imperfect. See others as humans
7
Integrity Doing the moral or ethical thing no matter the consequences. Is it okay to cheat when you haven’t done the work? Is it okay to steal from others because you want something? Is it okay to make up lies to get yourself out of trouble or get someone else in trouble.
8
Preparation Have your assignments done and study on a regular basis. Go to the bathroom before or after class. (2 minute window before class) Bring all of the necessary materials to class.
9
Responsibility Own up to your own short comings. Who’s fault is it if you are not prepared? To succeed on tests what is required? o Come to class on time o Study 10-15 minutes per day (30 for AP) o Complete all assignments
10
Compliance Don’t try and get away with things against the school’s policies. Life has social norms, laws, and expectations that all are expected to fall in line with. Anarchy does not work. It ends up ruining society as a whole. If you disagree with policies go through the proper channels.
11
Attentive During class you are expected to be engrossed in what is happening in the class and not other things. Comments and discussion that are on subject are not only permissible, but suggested. Distracting others from being attentive is worse than being inattentive yourself.
12
