The map of Kinsale Kinsale is a town in County Cork, Ireland. Located some 25 km south of Cork City on the coast near the Old Head of Kinsale, famous for its beautiful yachting, sea angling, Dolphin & Whale Watching Trips, gourmet restaurants and golf.

History In 1601, Kinsale was the site of a battle in which English forces defeated an Irish/Spanish force, led by the princes Hugh Roe O'Donnell and Hugh O'Neill, and other Irish clan leaders against English rule. Owing to Spanish involvement, and the strategic advantages to be gained, the battle also formed part of the Anglo- Spanish War (1585 -1604), the wider conflict of Protestant England against Catholic Spain.

Sports and community groups Kinsale Rugby Football Club recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. The Kinsale GAA club plays in the Cork South East Division. Transports Bus Éireann provides Kinsale's only means of public transport. Buses regularly operate from Kinsale to Cork City, with most of these going through Cork Airport on the way.

The Port Kinsale is a traditional commercial port with a long history. It has a splendid, virtually land locked natural harbour on the estuary of the Bandon River. As a commercial port, Kinsale caters for approximately 100 vessels per year. The majority of commercial shipping in involved in the importation of bulk animal foods. We are also engaged in the exportation of timber to the U.K.
