Patient Room – Contaminated/Dirty Area Doffing Area Door Clean Dirty Clean Area Draft Diagram of Doffing or Decontaminated Area Initial Larger Biohazard Waste Receptacle Pad saturated with disinfectant Secondary Smaller Biohazard Waste Receptacle

1.After seeing the patient, step out of room onto disinfectant saturated pad 2.Disinfect outer gloves and tape 3.Slowly and carefully remove tape

4.Slowly remove outer gloves by pulling gently at fingertips on one hand and then the other taking turns back and forth until loosening the gloves enough that they can drop off of hands and into the biohazard waste container

5.Disinfect inner gloves

6.Remove gown by gripping front opposing shoulder area and pull arm through turning gown inside out, repeat with other arm, continue to ball up making sure inside of gown is now on outside, and place it in biohazard waste receptacle

7.Disinfect inner gloves again 8.Remove face shield

9.Disinfect inner gloves again 10.Remove shoe covers and place in biohazard waste receptacle

11.Disinfect inner gloves again 12.Close bag with a twistie tie, twist top of bag down toward bag and twistie tie again.

13.With inner gloves still on, remove N-95 respirator by only touching the outside of the mask. Place mask into the smaller biohazard waste receptacle

14.Disinfect inner gloves again 15.Remove inner gloves, placing them in the smaller biohazard waste receptacle

16.Close smaller biohazard bag with a twistie tie, twist top of bag down toward bag and twistie tie again. 17.Wash hands and wrists thoroughly with soap and water for at least 30 seconds, rinse well and dry completely. 18.Shower as soon as possible
