1 Make Up Journals: 4th Quarter Intermediate Composition 2016

2 JOURNAL 19 Choose one or more of the following “Undeniable Truths” as inspiration for your journal entry. If you’d like, you write about whether or not you agree with it, or you can explore the idea through a story or poem. 1.Everyone is beautiful. 2.Magic is real, and it is everywhere if you choose to look for it. 3.The world is always going to try and bring you down. 4.Stress can kill you quicker than anything else.

3 JOURNAL 20: Write a brief piece inspired by one of the following lines from The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, Vol. 2: 1.“She read his letter again & again ‘til she found herself afloat among the stars.” 2.“With a well paying job and a stable position the call of the wild was never an option.”

4 JOURNAL 21 Write a piece inspired by one or more of the following “Undeniable Truths.” You can write about whether or not you agree, or just use it as inspiration for a brief story or poem. 1.You control your emotions. 2.Pure love doesn’t exist; there will be scars. 3.Men and women are equal. 4.Nobody is “too old” for Disney movies.

5 JOURNAL 22: Write a brief piece inspired by one of the following lines from The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, Vol. 2: 1.“He loved me. He loves me not.” 2.“You have reached the edge of the world. Please stand behind the barrier and take no photos.”

6 JOURNAL 23: Choose one or more of the following hypothetical questions as inspiration for your journal entry. If you’d like, you can actually answer the question, or you can explore the possibility in the form of a story or poem. What if our eyes could perceive the souls of the dead walking among us? What if your favorite celebrity fell in love with you? What if we all looked the same?

7 JOURNAL 24: Write a brief piece inspired by one of the following two lines from The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, Vol. 2: 1.“Yes, we’re sinking, but can you hear that wondrous sound?” 2.“I came here on a dream but when the dream was over I was left behind.”

8 JOURNAL 25: Choose one or more of the following “Undeniable Truths” as inspiration for your journal entry. You can write about whether you agree or disagree, or just respond to the idea in the form of a story or poem. 1.Everyone needs a break. 2.Sickness is an illusion of the mind. 3.“A” isn’t the best grade. 4.My heart is soft as cotton candy on a stick but my life is the stickiness on my fingers.

9 JOURNAL 26: Write a piece inspired by one of the following tiny stories submitted by your peers: (1)What keeps you from loving someone? (2)Do we heal from our pain, or just forget? (3)Everyone remembers the light, but chooses to forget its shadow.

10 JOURNAL 27: Write a piece inspired by one of the following tiny stories submitted by your peers: (1)“My heart is a vessel for fleeting forevers.” (2)“I asked them how she died; they said she died by words.” (3)“The constellations control our lives.”

11 JOURNAL 28: Write a piece inspired by one of the following tiny stories submitted by your peers: (1)“The gardenhead knows my name.” (2)“How lucky we are to be alive.” (3)“You’re squeezing my heart and it hurts.”

12 JOURNAL 29: Write a piece inspired by one of the following “undeniable truths” submitted by your peers: 1.Everyone is born good; their environment changes who they are. 2.Everything happens for a reason, even if we don’t like that reason. 3.No one is ever going to agree with everyone. 4.Living beings are defined by more than physical form.

13 JOURNAL 30: Write a piece inspired by one of the following tiny stories submitted by your peers: 1.“If lost, please do NOT return, for I am already gone.” 2.“Where will I go when you don’t need me anymore?” 3.“What you mean you lost the key to my heart?”

14 JOURNAL 31 Write a brief piece inspired by one of the following tiny stories submitted by your peers: “He kept waiting, not realizing how badly I just wanted him to fade…” “Baby it’s cold, but let’s have a picnic.” “She thought she lost the answers, but they were under her bed.”
