Particles De: indicates where the event described by the verb takes place. Toshokan de hon o yomimasu. (I) read books in the library. Ni: (1) the goal toward which things move Toshokan ni ikimasu ka. Will (you) go to the library?

(Ni continued) (2) Indicates the time at which an event takes place. Nichiyoobi ni kyooto ni ikimasu. (I) will go to Kyoto on Sunday. Juu-ji ni nemasu. (I) will sleep at 10:00. E: indicates the goal of movement. Interchangeable with “ni” (1). Uchi e kaerimasen. (I) will not return to home.

Particles Notes There are some time words that do not take particles.
kyoo, kinoo, ashita, asu mainichi, maisyuu, itsu The following words sometimes take “ni,” but not necessary. asa, hiru, yoru, ban syuumatsu

Time indicator, “ni, can be used with any time words such as hours, minutes, date, month and year.

Practice: Translate. What time do you get up? Where do you study?
When do you watch TV? Do you play sports? Where do you go on weekends? What do you eat in the morning? What will you do this evening? About what time do you sleep every night?
