Wetlands Worlds most biodiverse eco-systems Many different kinds of Plants Animals Clean any polluted water that flows into them As water passes by Soil soaks up pollutants Disposes of pollutants through natural dispersion

Ecosystems of Wet Lands Salt Water Shorelines and beaches Abundance of brine flies Abundance of brine shrimp Salt Grass and Pickleweed Provide secured nesting area Grazing in the winter Fresh Water Migratory and Nesting Millions of species in single area Protection High winds Hail Predators

National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Enacted on January 1, 1970 Requires government agencies to prepare Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) Publicly disclose potential effects public has an understanding of their choices before it destroys an ecosystem NEPA works with Social impacts Transportation needs Public input Economic impacts Environmental impacts

Antelope Island Migrating birds 7 million shore birds 3 million ducks 2,225 acres of protected wet lands Biking and hiking trails Allows for viewing without disturbing nature Bison Feed on grasses, herbs, shrubs, and twigs

Call of Action Every Ecosystem is Delicate All of the plants and animals that live in this ecosystem are being threatened Expand protected wetland areas Before destroyed Clean areas to make habitable Buy Land Being used for urban neighborhoods Help wildlife before they die out
