For example, you could start your practicum in the Spring term, and complete it in the Fall if you chose. You must take PHS613 during your first term in the program. After that, you can take the required courses in any order that you wish. The recommended course progression sequence (above) allows a full time student to graduate within 4 terms (16 months) of joining the program. NOTE that if you do not follow the recommended course sequence it will usually require more than 4 terms to complete your program and can have implications for fees. The MHI requires the successful completion of 8 required courses and 2 electives. You can choose electives from any course offered by the School of Public Health with permission of the Program Lead. Our recommended progression sequence has fulltime students normally taking their electives in the Fall term. You can take electives in the Winter or Spring if there is an elective that interests you, but remember that this may delay your completion of the program as you will still need to take the required course that you substituted with an elective. Talk with your advisor or the Program Lead. Review QUEST for available offerings when choosing an elective. Courses with a PHS prefix are delivered online, and will be the most appropriate choices for those pursuing their degrees via distance.

2 RECOMMENDED COURSE PROGRESSION SEQUENCE FOR PART TIME STUDENTS WHO ARE ADMITTED FALL 2016 OR LATER FALL WINTER SPRING As a part time student, and with the support of your practicum sponsor, you can split your practicum across two terms. You can also complete your practicum in a single term, (which may reduce the length of time it takes to complete your program) but doing so can can have fee implications. The MHI requires the successful completion of 8 required courses and 2 electives. You must take PHS613 during your first term in the program. You can also complete the program in less than 11 terms by increasing your course load in a term. Note that this may also have implications for fees.
