3 Kashmir Problem begins in 1947 when India & Pakistan gain independence

4 Kashmir Kashmir not joined to either side – Both India (majority Hindu)& Pakistan (majority Muslim) want Kashmir Minor conflicts fought from 1950 through 2004 – Over 20,000 people killed

5 Kashmir India claims ruler of Kashmir agreed to join India before passing away, therefore should be part of India Majority of population in Kashmir is Muslim, Pakistan claims it should therefore be part of Pakistan
